Skincare Review: Full Routine Using Fresh Products

I’ve been a longtime advocate of the brand Fresh for its skincare products. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and I finally found products and a brand that’s helped in reducing acne breakouts, clearing scars and improving skin texture.

I wanted to share a review of several Fresh skincare products used in a full routine to highlight the hits and misses. Hopefully this in-depth review gives you a better idea of what’s worth investing in because Fresh products are quite expensive.

Cleanse

soy face 150-ml

I got my first tube of the Fresh Soy Cleanser over a year ago and I haven’t looked back — it’s become an absolute staple in my skincare routine both day and night. It’s the best facial cleanser I’ve used and it’s done wonders for my skin. The Soy Cleanser has a creamy and slippery texture and it does not foam a lot when applied to the face and mixed with water. It almost feels like a thick serum when I massage it all over my face. I love it because it’s so gentle on my face, cleanses my skin really well, and doesn’t leave it feeling dry or stripped after I’m done cleansing. I discovered that foaming cleansers and a lot of other cleansers in general are just too harsh for my sensitive skin and leave my face feeling extra dry and stripped. But the Soy Cleanser doesn’t. It has improved the quality of my skin over time, leaving it smoother, more supple and hydrated. I use the Soy Cleanser day and night as the first step in my skincare routine (or right after removing my makeup for a double cleanse).

Exfoliate

strawberry face wash

I generally tend to stay away from face scrubs and physical exfoliators because they can be harsh on sensitive skin. But recently I decided to try the travel size version of the Fresh Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash because I find other products from Fresh have worked well for my skin. I only exfoliate twice a week; it’s not something I do every day in my skincare routine. I like to take a small pea-sized amount and slowly massage it in round motions all over my face for a few minutes and then rinse it off. The micro bits of sugar in The Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash are extremely fine so it’s very gentle on the skin. I think it does a nice job of clearing up dead skin cells and gently exfoliating the skin to leave it looking brighter. I also like the mild strawberry scent. I don’t think it’s a must-have product in a skincare routine but I do quite like it.

Facial Mist

glow water

This is definitely an optional and indulgent step in my skincare routine. I picked up the Fresh Vitamin Nectar Anti-Oxidant Glow Water facial mist on a whim. It can be used as a makeup primer, setting spray or simply a refreshing mist. One of the main ingredients in this product is Vitamin C, which helps to brighten the skin. I like to use the Vitamin Nectar Anti-Oxidant Glow Water as the second step in my skincare routine right after cleansing because it feels really nice on freshly cleansed skin and instantly wakes me up. Considering it was an impulse purchase, I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do. It’s become a staple in my skincare routine because I love the way it cools and refreshes my skin while also adding some nutrients back into the skin. I did try to set my makeup with the spray but it didn’t really work. I think it’s a great step in preparing the skin for serums and moisturisers.

Toners / Serum / Essence

black tea kombucha1

My skin is too sensitive to use most toners on so this is often a step I skipped in my skincare routine until I tried the Fresh Black Tea Kombucha Essence Treatment. It’s not a toner but an essence, which is essentially a very thin serum-like product that helps to add another layer of hydration and protection to skin. It also helps to lock-in moisture, which means any serums and moisturisers applied after will absorb well into the skin. Taking a few drops of the Black Tea Kombucha Essence Treatment and using my clean hands to apply it on my face day and night has worked wonders to clarify, brighten and plump up my skin. The ingredients are: kombucha black tea (brightens and fights free radicals), hyaluronic acid (maintains moisture), mandarin peel extract (evens complexion), and kigelia africana fruit extract (smoothen skin texture). A large size bottle can easily last up to 4 – 6 months depending on use. I have used this product for almost a year now and I can see a noticeable decrease in acne breakouts and an improvement in my skin’s natural “plumpness” — it is looking a lot more youthful!

Moisturiser

vitamin face cream

Since I loved the cleansing and skin prep products, I decided to try some of the moisturisers from Fresh. I tried the Vitamin Nectar Moisture Glow Face Cream for a few months but I didn’t see or feel much improvement in my skin like I did with the other products. The  Vitamin Nectar Moisture Glow Face Cream is supposed to give a healthy-looking glow to the skin but I didn’t see any visible increase in the radiance or brightness of my face after using this product for almost two months. The moisturiser works perfectly fine to hydrate the skin but I don’t think it does much else. It’s also quite expensive for a daily moisturiser so I definitely expected it to do more.

Price: 1,980 Baht for 50 ml (1.6 fl oz)

rose cream

The Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream is another moisturiser I tried. I got the mini size, It’s supposed to deliver 24-hour moisture and designed especially for normal to dry skin. I actually quite like this product but as a night cream or when I’m traveling and my skin gets extra dry. I have normal / combination skin so I think the Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream is too dewy for daily use and under makeup. This cream does exactly what it’s supposed to: hydrate the skin. It’s not a bad product but I think it’s quite expensive for a hydrating face cream; I found drugstore moisturisers that work just as well.

Eye Cream

The Fresh Lotus Eye Gel is another product I tested for a few months. It is designed to reduce puffiness and dark circles around the eyes and sounded perfect for a sleep-deprived mom like me. The formula of the gel-like cream felt no different than a regular moisturiser. It feels cooling and soothing on application due to the cucumber extract in the product but after using it or more than two months I felt it didn’t do anything to improve the appearance of my dark eye circles. And it’s a very expensive product!

Price: 2,490 Baht for 1.5 ml (0.5 fl oz)

Overall, I’m a fan of Fresh skincare products, especially the Soy Cleanser, Vitamin Nectar Anti-Oxidant Glow Water and the Black Tea Kombucha Essence Treatment. These products are worth the high price tags because I think in combination they actually work and deliver results consistently. My acne scarring has visibly reduced and the texture of my skin has improved a lot — it’s a lot more supple and smooth. I also find by sticking to my skincare routine day and night, my acne breakouts are much less. A big part of that is due to some of the Fresh products.

Fresh has a huge product range and the collections are centred around the benefits derived from different high quality ingredient sources such as soy, rose, black tea, vitamin nectar, lotus and sugar. So I definitely think Fresh is a brand worth exploring if you have sensitive skin and other concerns such as dullness and scarring / texture and haven’t found a solution yet, Fresh might have it.
