How To Clean Makeup Brushes With The Beauty Blender Cleanser Solid

Here’s a quick guide on how to clean makeup brushes using the Beauty Blender Cleanser Solid.

How Often To Clean Makeup Brushes

Before jumping into how to clean makeup brushes, let’s talk about how often it should be done. There isn’t an exact rule, but these are the guidelines I follow:

  • For brushes used with liquid and cream products: every 7 days
  • For brushes used with powders such as blush and eyeshadow: every 2 weeks

Ideally, all makeup brushes should be cleansed every week, if you were really curious. But I know that’s not realistic. So, a good general rule to follow: wash them every 2 weeks.

It’s important to be diligent about cleaning your makeup tools regularly because brushes and sponges hold onto the oils and debris from makeup products and the environment. They are are porous and bacteria can build up quickly. If you have excessively dirty makeup brushes, then it can lead to skin issues like acne breakouts and fungal infections and not to mention that your makeup application won’t be smooth either.

How To Use The Beauty Blender Cleanser Solid

In the Beauty Blender Cleanser Solid package, you will find:

  • A solid cleanser (which looks like a bar of soap)
  • A textured silocone mat to scrub the brushes and sponges

There are a few different scents and versions. I prefer the Unscented one:

Here’s the process on how to clean makeup brushes:

  • Wet all brushes and sponges with lukewarm water
  • Gently rub the brush hairs and sponges in circular motions on the solid bar until it is saturated with cleanser
  • Scrub brush gently in circular motions on the silicone mat. Do not scrub beauty sponges because they will tear. For sponges, squeeze the sponge a few times to clean
  • To check if the brush or sponge is clean, run it under water and if the water runs clear, then it’s clean. If not, then repeat the steps above once more until the water runs clean
  • Lay out all brushes on a towel and reshape the brush hairs, if needed
  • Let brushes and sponges air dry for a day in a well-ventilated space
  • Make sure to rinse the Beauty Blender Cleanser Solid and let everything dry completely before storing it away
